5/15/15 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Sunday

by Katie (Jenny Craig 2009 Poster Girl) 16. May 2014 08:57

Are 100 calorie packs a healthy snack since they're low in calories?  I've seen many people make this mistake of thinking 100 calorie pack must mean I can have several of them because they're low in calories.  Whether you're on Jenny Craig or following my maintenance plan from my daily food journal (2008 or 2009) there is only ONE opportunity each day to have a 100 calorie pack.  If you look at either journal (JC or my maintenance journal) there are 3 times in the day for a snack.  I have one at around 10:30 (this is now when I have my JC Anytime Bar).  This could be a yogurt or string cheese for you.  At 4:00 I usually have my 2nd fruit of the day.  At 8:00 is when I have my JC snack which is usually a cheesecake or snack bar (this is when you could have the 100 calorie pack).  When I was on maintenance at 8 was when I usually ate the 100 calorie pack.  100 calorie packs are usually just "filler calories" with no nutritional value.  They are starchy typically and it's just a time in the day when you get to have a "guilty pleasure."  I've watched countless times people have 2 for lunch and one in the afternoon!  Do not make this mistake!  You do not need empty calories.  If you're still hungry throughout the day you need to make it a habit to eat non-starchy vegetables such as carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower.

There are certainly a lot of details like that to take into consideration. That is a great point to bring up. I offer the thoughts above as general inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you bring up where the most important thing will be working in honest good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged around things like that, but I am sure that your job is clearly identified as a fair game. Both boys and girls feel the impact of just a moment’s pleasure, for the rest of their lives.
